We are passionate about teaching mindfulness to spread its benefits to all the community. We are registered through the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA) and love to continue to develop our own knowledge, practice and learning. We are trained mental health first aid champions, First Aid at Work qualified and DBS checked.

Mindfulness has been an essential part of my life since 2011. I meditate every day, and this helps me to refresh and maintain a certain type of calm and strength that can only come with regular practice. It also serves as a reminder to be kind to others and myself. I am a qualified mindfulness teacher and continue to follow the recommendations of the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches.

I love this job as it enables me to share mindful experiences with more and more people in so many different places, and most importantly, working with people who I respect, admire and get along with, in our Little Company of Calm. How lucky am I!

I first encountered Mindfulness 12 years’ ago when I least expected it! A poster entitled “Finding Peace in a Frantic World” caught my eye as I dashed to yet another work meeting! I promised myself then that I would take this opportunity to find some peace in between work, caring for my mam and a busy social life. I have never regretted that decision.

I benefitted from Mindfulness so much that I volunteered to co-teach some mindfulness programmes and have been teaching and practising Mindfulness daily ever since. I am particularly interested in self-compassion (something we all struggle with I think) and completed the Mindful Self Compassion Course. This has become the bedrock of my mindfulness teaching and my own personal practise. I worked at Sunderland City Council for 15 years in housing, I have been a secondary school English teacher and worked in the voluntary sector; witnessing first-hand how deprivation can affect mental health.

I am now so pleased to be part of The Little Company of Calm as I want you to benefit from Mindfulness as much as I have. So come on.....find some peace in your frantic world.

Co Founder & Director

I first became interested in mindfulness after reading Finding Peace in a Frantic World which was so insightful and led on to me taking courses and completing the Foundation course in Mindfulness at Oxford University.

I enjoy teaching on a variety of programmes from Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy to short taster courses. I am committed to improving my teaching through continuous professional development and follow the UK good practice guidelines.

I have a strong interest in Mindful Movement and in particular the practice of Chi Kung. I am pleased to be working with Joe and Liz to further develop The Little Company of Calm so that more people can understand and appreciate the benefits of mindfulness and how it can improve our health and well being.
